With the forecast not looking much better, we've decided to skip out
of the rain and head for the sunshine. We'll be picking up a 16-foot
Penske cube van in Bellingham and driving 1,600 kms to Monterey
California. Monterey has the dual virtues of being both the start of
the Big Sur coastline and the start of the warm weather on Sunday,
when we plan to hop on the bikes and start the trip in earnest.

This was one battle I was happy to lose.
